Our Story

After dancing independently for some time, co-founders Nova, Wati, and Kae discovered within each other kindred spirits; they all have immense pride in their mother country, Indonesia, and share a passion for sharing that culture in their home country. Thus, Nusantara Budaya was born with the spirit of all Indonesian-Americans in mind.

Members of Nusantara Budaya come from all different Indonesian ethnic backgrounds, religions, and ages ranging from 20 to 63 years old. With such diversity, we hope to preserve Indonesia's culture with activities that include cultural performances and participation of the Indonesian diaspora in local annual festivals.

Our Vision

Here at Nusantara Budaya, we are committed to showcasing and representing Indonesia to the best of our ability. Our vision is to introduce Indonesia's rich culture to the local communities and the public in general through traditional dances and songs.

Our Mission

Nusantara Budaya is dedicated to preserving, celebrating, and sharing Indonesia's rich cultural heritage with American audiences through authentic artistic experiences. Our mission encompasses cultural preservation, community building, and artistic excellence.

Through our traditional dance performances, vocal arts presentations, and community partnerships, we strive to create immersive cultural experiences that transport audiences to Indonesia's beautiful archipelago while fostering greater cross-cultural understanding and appreciation.
